This section presents all the bibliographic databases that the academic community of NKUA has access to through direct subscription.

Academic Search Complete

Academic Search Complete is the world's most valuable and comprehensive scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 8,500 full-text periodicals, including more than 7,300 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 12,500 journals and a total of more than 13,200 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc. The database features PDF content going back as far as 1887, with the majority of full text titles in native (searchable) PDF format. Searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,400 journals.

The Westlaw database by Thomson Reuters, provides access to thousands of cases, legislation, treaties, articles, periodicals and other primary and secondary sources of legal information at an international level that can facilitate the work of the legal researcher.

L' Année Philologique

L'Année Philologique (Bibliography of the Classical World) is published by the Société Internationale de Bibliographie Classique and is a specialized bibliographic base/index of scientific publications covering all aspects of ancient Greek and Roman culture.The bibliography is published both in print and digital format. The digital edition includes all volumes of the annual index, from volume 1 of 1928 onwards.

The ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center) database is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education to provide extensive access to education-related literature. ERIC provides coverage of journal articles, conferences, meetings, government documents, theses, dissertations, reports, audiovisual media, bibliographies, directories, books and monographs.

Statista is one of the largest statistics and market data platforms with access to more than 1.5 million statistics, forecasts, folders, reports and infographics on 80,000 topics from more than 22,500 sources. The platform combines financial data, consumer ideas, polls and demographic trends.

Access is based on IP address recognition and no additional registration or passwords are required.

 

All data can be downloaded in seconds in 4 different formats. In addition, every student, faculty member and staff member receives full rights to publish and use the data. Automatic referral creation is also included.

DynaMed

DynaMed by EBSCO, is an evidence-based, primary care database designed to provide the most useful point-of-care health information available for the purpose of having accurate medical information and support specific decision making.

DynaMed includes 35 medical specialties, represent active tool for unlimited drug interactions via MicroMedex, provide patient education materials, clinical guidance from over 21,000 organizations worldwide, almost all clinically proven diagnostic and treatment methods, have links to full text articles and other important information.

DynaMed is updated 6 times per day and is also the first clinical guidance database to include information on the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Note: The DynaMed database is provided free of charge by EBSCO due to our many years of cooperation and active subscription on other databases, as well as in the context of practical assistance in supporting distance education in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Medline on EBSCOhost

The Medline database, created by the National Library of Medicine in the United States, is a bibliographic database containing reports and abstracts from biomedical and health sciences journals used by health professionals, nurses, physicians and researchers.

Note: The Medline database is provided free of charge by EBSCO due to our many years of cooperation and active subscription on other databases, as well as in the context of practical assistance in supporting distance education in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

JSTOR Arts & Sciences Collections I,II,III,IV και V

 

 

 

JSTOR offers the possibility of retrieving scanned pages from journals ranging almost from their 1st issue published, covering a wide variety of topics and subjects. Under JSTOR's policy, archival access is not granted  for current issues but up to some time in the past, which ranges from a few months to a few years (also known as a moving wall) which may be different for each journal.

In particular, our current subscription provides access to the Arts & Sciences I, II, III, IV and V collections which include more than 500 journals, covering various subjects such as economics, history, arts, political science, language and literature, education , music, law, etc.

American Antiquarian Archives on EBSCOhost

American Antiquarian Archives of EBSCO is essentially the theme selection of `Historical Periodical Collection (50series)` of the American Antiquarian Society (AAS). It offers access to American journal publications from Colonialism to the Civil War and Reconstruction, published from 1684 to 1912. It consists of a series of sub-topic bases covering the following topis: agriculture, history, applied sciences and technology, art, music, education, religion, business and female topics.

The MathSciNet database of the American Mathematical Society (AMS) provides access to books, journals and conference proceedings on Mathematics and other related sciences. Bibliographic information for journal articles, conferences and books as well as summaries of these are provided, and in some cases the full text of the article may be available.

Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection

 

Clarivate Analytics' Web of Science works as an index of citations and provides an interconnected search for research results and sources that cover Social Sciences, Science and Human Sciences. In case search results include material to which NKUA has full text access, a relevant link is provided through the Web of Science Links service.

 

 

In particular, our subscription provides access to the following indexes:

InCites JCR & ESI


 

In conjunction with the Web of Science platform, Clarivate Analytics provides access to two additional research evaluation databases / tools.

 

  • InCites Journal Citation Reports (JCR) - allows to evaluate and compare journals using data from approximately 12,000 scientific and technical journals, as well as conference proceedings from over 3,000 publishers in more than 60 countries. It covers almost all of the individual subject categories in the Science

  

  • InCites Essential Science Indicators (ESI) -  Consists a unique collection of statistics and trends through measurements of articles published in scientific journals and their corresponding references.

Our subscription to the Clarivate Analytics Web of Science platform enables the members of NKUA to use the online version of the EndNote citation management tool.

 

 

EndNote also provides:

  • search on PubMed, Library of Congress and other online sources
  • importing reports and PDFs from online databases
  • storage of up to 50,000 reports and 2GB of attachments
  • creating collaborative groups
